Flaxseed is one of the oldest cultivated crops known to mankind. Oilseeds are often used in medicine and cosmetics, mainly because of their vegetable fat and fiber content. They are used to make flax flour from crushed seeds and flaxseed oil, which can be drunk as a liquid or in capsules. The content of polyunsaturated fatty acids in 100 g of flaxseed is 45%, as more than half are omega-3, less than a quarter are omega-6 and 10% are omega-9. Because fatty acids are not resistant to the effects of oxygen, nature has naturally protected them through a 'package' of antioxidants. For this reason, flax seeds contain a lot of vitamins A, C, E.
